Benjamin Gianni is a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture and has studied at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University. He previously taught at Ohio State University and worked as an architect in Columbus, New York, Chicago and Seattle. He is the author of many professional papers and articles relating to architecture, urban design and planning.
In 2013 he was a Canada-China Friendship Society delegate to the Beijing International Forum on Urban Development. In February 2014 he led a group of 40 architectural students on a three-week trip to China where they met with Chinese scholars and officials in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong to discuss issues of planning and sustainable development in urban areas. His presentation focused on how China is dealing with the challenge of a rapidly urbanizing population, and he compared the situation with developments in other countries.
