February 7, 2015 Year of the Sheep New Year’s Banquet.
The annual Canada-China Friendship Society Banquet was held at the Mandarin Ogilvie Restaurant in Ottawa. Approximately 200 members and non members of the CCFS-O attended. Several people from the Chinese Embassy were in attendance including Wang Wentian, Deputy Chief of Mission, who brought greetings from Ambssador Luo Zhaohui. The Embassy was one of the main contributors to the silent auction which raised funds for CCFS-O projects. Other sponsors include Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy Clinic, Benjamin Moore-Century Paints and Decorating, David Dupont of Yanjing Canada, Foodie Prints, Kowloon Market, Mandarin Ogilvie restaurant, McGarry Family Chapel, Penny’s Pearls, Snap Fitness, Spring Festival Gala Canada, TD Canada Trust, Tim Hortons, Tsingtao Beer Canada, T & T Supermarket and a number of CCFS-O members who donated items for the silent auction.
Greetings for the year of the Sheep were brought by Jennifer Lim and Don Chow, authors and food bloggers. Guests were treated to entertainment by singer Qin Sheng. The Master of Ceremonies for the banquet was Cat Situ, Door prizes were presented by Nataly Azzi and Hailin Wang, members of the CCFS-O executive. The Banquet Co-ordinator was Roxanne Hamel.
