September 7-17, 2010, Delegation to China. President Lorraine Farkas and three other members represented the Ottawa Chapter on a 12-member Federation delegation visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries ( Presentation). Vice-president Gilliane Lapointe gave a speech about the state of Canada China sister cities linkages at an international conference organized by the CPAFFC in Shanghai.

September 30, 2010, The Untold Story of Canada-China Trade 200 Years Ago. Presentation by ceramicist and archaeologist Ron Whate.

October, 6,7,21,28, 2010, China Film Festival made possible by a  partnership between Library and Archives Canada, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the National Film Board of Canada, and the Canada-China Friendship Society. The opening night was held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and featured two films,Glimpses and Way of the Snowstorm. On October 21, Library and Archives Canada featured an exhibition on early trade between Canada and China, as well as a musical performance by Ms. Xin Ben, the student featured in the film Mr. Mergler’s Gift which will be screened that evening.

November 6-16, 2008, An eleven-member Federation delegation drawn from five Canadian chapters visited China at the invitation of their host, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship With Foreign Countries. The delegation attended the two-day Chinese Friendship Cities Conference in Beijing and later participated in CPAFFC’s Third Biennial Friendship Forum in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province. February 5, 2006,  Year of the Dog Banquet at the Mandarin Ogilvie combined with a 30th anniversary celebration of the chapter’s founding (206 persons attending); congratulatory remarks by Ambassador Lu Shumin, the first two chapter presidents Peter Larson & Maija Kagis, and by senior municipal officials from Ottawa and Gatineau.
